Surly Midnight Special - Hire

The Midnight Special is an insanely versatile bike; it handles about any terrain from paved Christchurch roads to dirt tracks in Bottle Lake Forest and beyond.

The Surly Midnight Special shines brightest on pot-holed, deteriorating pavement (think Red Zone or the Port Hills in Christchurch) and the occasional long stretch of gravel (McLeans Island or Bottle Lake Forest).

It makes a fantastic touring bike, there are plenty of braze-ons for front and rear panniers, mounts for three bottle cages and more.

The mechanical disc brakes will guaranteed to help you stop fully loaded on the steepest hills and in grittiest conditions yet you will eat up those miles on South Island roads and gravel tracks like a road cyclist.

Or just take it for a road ride, climb up to the Summit road and don't stop until you're in Akaroa!

Please select the minimum duration for your hire and we can extend if required at the time of pick-up (subject to availability).

We will confirm your booking as soon as possible. If your selected bike is not available we will let you know and offer an alternative.

A delivery service is available on request with a small additional charge, just let us know if you require this service and we will contact you.

Long term hire also available, for a month or summer break. Please get in touch with us for long term rates.

Terms & Conditions:

Bikes hired from Chill must be returned by the hirer in the same condition that it was hired. We allow for wear and tear, including wear on brakes, tires, and small running issues.

Bikes returned that require new equipment and/or significant repair are at the cost of the hirer. Bikes that are stolen are the responsibility and cost of the hirer. Bikes that are not able to be repaired are at the cost of the hirer.

A credit card is taken at the time of hire as security for return of the bike. Any costs associated with the repair, loss, or damage to the bike at the time of the hire will be charged on the credit card. A report on the bike condition and required repair will be presented to the hirer for consideration.

Cancellation Policy:

Cancellation is based solely on the amount of notice you provide and is strictly upheld.
